Rebecca “Beckie” Hill is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and Case Manager and has been practicing in this role since 2001. Beckie earned her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Western Washington University in 2017, and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Western Washington University in 1998. Beckie is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor; a Certified Disability Management Specialist; a certified Progressive Goal Attainment Program Trained Activity Coach; a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist; and a Certified Case Manager. Ms. Hill is also an associate member of the American Board of Vocational Experts.
Beckie has provided vocational services to clients in Washington State and beyond and has worked with individuals with catastrophic, life altering injuries for many years. Her love of working with people with disabilities began at a very young age working with a child who suffered a traumatic brain injury, and another child with cerebral palsy. In addition, she volunteered at a summer camp for children with disabilities. Beckie has hands on skills in providing direct assistance with life care planning, legal cases, earning capacities, and self-insured work. Beckie is also an approved Vocational Expert for the Social Security Administration. In addition, Beckie provides rehabilitation counseling to clients in all phases of Department of Labor & Industries vocational services. Beckie is able to utilize her breadth of knowledge and skill-set to provide expert opinions in a diverse range of cases.
Beckie is a member of the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association. She is a member of International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and served as the Washington State Chapter’s Member at Large for 2014-2015. Beckie was selected as a panel member for the WA IARP 2013 conference discussing On-The-Job training. Beckie is also a member of Washington Self-Insurers Association (WSIA). Beckie is past Treasurer of the organization Professionals in Workers Compensation. She is also a member of the Puget Sound Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and is past Co-Chair for the Events Committee.
Outside of work, Beckie enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, the Seahawks, playing with her dogs, doing water aerobics, and enjoying yoga.
Todd Gendreau has been with Strategic Consulting Services since November 2002. Todd is also a co-owner of SCS. Prior to working at SCS, Todd worked as a Vocational Consultant for Whittall Management Group and as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor at Echo Glen Children’s Center with DSHS.
Todd has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Western Washington University and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Diego State University. Outside of work, Todd enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, and spending time with family.
Stephanie Boeshaar has been with Strategic Consulting Services since March 2004. Prior to working at SCS, Stephanie worked with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) as an Employment Specialist working with individuals with disabilities and placing them on job sites. This required Stephanie to work closely with employers and present the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities including the financial benefit to the state and to the individual. This included coordination with local support agencies such as housing, medical, SSDI, L&I and various groups. Job readiness services were provided to each participant including resumes, job search, interview skills, etc.
Stephanie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Minor in Sociology from Washington State University and a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation from San Diego State University. Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys supporting Young Life, photography, volunteering at the church, personal business ventures, serving on Youth For Christ auction board, and raising five-kids while driving them all over town.
Rachel Steilberg has been with Strategic Consulting Services since May 2009. Prior to working at SCS, Rachel worked for a few other VRC firms in training and management roles. Rachel has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Central Washington University and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys mountain biking, soccer, skiing, hiking, photography, playing piano and being a mom.
Merrill Cohen has been with Strategic Consulting Services since February 2007. She has 20 years of experience providing vocational assessment, rehabilitation planning, earning capacity evaluations and life care planning. She has been admitted as an expert witness in state courts in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska as well as in Federal Court.
Ms. Cohen provides vocational rehabilitation services to workers covered by Washington State Department of Labor and Industries as well as federal worker’s compensation systems such as the Longshore and Harbor Worker’s Compensation Act, the Defense Base Act, Jones Act, and the Federal Employee’s Liability Act (FELA).
Her practice also includes providing vocational expert testimony in litigated cases and for the Social Security Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. She provides vocational counseling and rehabilitation planning for disabled veterans and to service members making the transition from military service to civilian employment. Ms. Cohen is qualified to administer and interpret a range of vocational tests and assessments.
Ms. Cohen earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Seattle University and a post-graduate certificate in Life Care Planning from the University of Florida. She holds national certifications in Rehabilitation Counseling, Disability Management, Case Management, and Life Care Planning.
In her non-working hours, Ms.Cohen enjoys ice skating, serving on the board of the Cascade Valley Figure Skating Club, and playing with her four dogs.
Marilyn Thomas has been with Strategic Consulting Services since July 2003. Prior to working at SCS, Marilyn worked as an Employee Benefit Representative for General Motors & McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Medical Claims Adjudication.
Marilyn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health from Missouri Baptist University and a Master of Science in Counseling from Lindenwood University. Outside of work, Marilyn enjoys endurance sports (marathons, half marathons), Tribal Canoe Journey, and swimming.
Laynya Stevens has been with Strategic Consulting Services since July 2007. In addition to Washington State worker’s compensation claim work, Laynya has experience providing expert testimony for Social Security Disability Insurance, and has also worked with Veterans providing vocational assessment services. Prior to working at SCS, Laynya worked as a Child and Family Therapist for a foster care program in Kitsap County.
Laynya has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Sciences and Psychology from San Jose State University and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. Outside of work, Laynya enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending her children’s sporting and music events, exercise, travel, skiing, outdoor activities, and cooking.
Bobbie has been practicing as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor since 2000. She earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Seattle University, a Bachelor’s degree in English from Georgetown University and holds a national certification in Rehabilitation Counseling.
Bobbie provides rehabilitation and case management services to workers covered by the Department of Labor and Industries and for Self-Insured Employers. She has experience providing vocational counseling and rehabilitation planning to disabled veterans and service members for the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as facilitating and providing accommodations for employees and faculty as a Disability Case Manager at the University of Washington.
Bobbie especially enjoys collaborating with employers, providers and workers in facilitating effective return to work, as well as bringing cases with complex medical and vocational issues to resolution.
Outside of work, Bobbie enjoys spending time with family and friends, including her two grown sons, and enjoys reading, live theatre, hiking, cycling and gardening.
Anne Kemerer Jones, M.Ed., CRC, ABVE/D, CLCP, has been practicing as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant since January, 1999. She provides vocational rehabilitation consulting and life care planning on behalf of individuals with a broad spectrum of physical, mental, and vocational impairments. Anne’s services play a vital role in a number of different arenas including government, civil litigation, insurance, and education. Anne is a Certified Life Care Planner and an approved vocational rehabilitation provider for the WA State Dept. of Labor & Industries. She further serves as a vocational expert for U.S. Social Security Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. Additional areas of practice include maritime claims (Longshore and Harbor Workers Act and Jones Act), personal injury, family law, and long term disability. Anne has been admitted as a Vocational Expert in state courts. She has completed post graduate work in life care planning as well as trainings in professional mediation and collaborative law, as well as training as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for King County Family Law courts. Additionally, Anne is a freelance writer and paid book reviewer for Publishers Weekly in both nonfiction and fiction genres. She is also a select book reviewer for publishers including Kensington, Crooked Lane, Minotaur, Hallmark, and multiple independent publishers as well as a trusted reviewer for NetGalley.
